It's been on my mind a lot lately, but I've not taken the time to express nor debate its contents until now.
I don't know how to ease in to a topic like this so I'm just going to cut straight on with an opinionated statement; our generation are the ones to witness the very last and absolute decline of all traditional social and moral values that have held society together throughout history. Take a good look around you, teenage pregnancies are on the rise, even the (excuse the crude analogy) pornographic 'milf' fad of the 90s is practically dead as every 'hot mom' out there is probably the same age as the teens. Girls are losing their virginity at 12 and 13, 15 year old girls are dating 25 year old ex convicts with no shame, middle class guys are going from ripping people off on piss weed to senselessly stabbing pedestrians within about 2 years all while our own policemen find it easier to lock up law-abiding citizens and ignore the thugs on our streets thanks to their cowardice.
In the middle ages even our society was governed by knightly virtues and strong codes of moral justice and honour. Does that exist today? A society where every single act is a selfish grapple for perceived temporary self-empowerment? All while corrupt politicians and bankers do everything they can to scrape in every last penny they can get despite already having more money than they can possibly spend in an entire lifetime, despite having enough money to house and feed every man in the third world.
When will this vile regime end? When will our generation stop being so pathetic and do something about our impending doom? The answer is never, because we're all so caught up in the insipid details of our mundane and meaningless lives.
Nihilism isn't apathy, it's realism, and realism has no intent.
